Program Outline
The Bayou City Fellowship Residential program is a two-year educational and ministry leadership internship that prepares leaders for a lifetime of Christian service in one of four focal areas: pastoral ministry, worship, missions, and audio-visual/tech. The program consists of two distinct but integrated tracts–theological foundations and vocational ministry. Residents will be mentored by Bayou City staff according to their ministry focal areas while assisting the various ministries of Bayou City Fellowship in fulfilling its vision of making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Designed for college graduates, the Residential Program provides participants the unique opportunity to get first-hand ministry experience in the context of the local church and along with a cohort of peers. Each resident will individually support-raise for their one-year salary (and benefits, if needed). Our partnering organization, Reliant, will provide each resident with in-depth training and coaching for support raising.
Track 1: Theological Foundations – The residents will have the opportunity to develop their understanding in the following areas:
Basic Theology
- Hermeneutics & Bible Study Methods
- Spiritual Formation
- Transformation & Sanctification
- Evangelism & Missions
- Bible Teaching / Expositional Preaching
- Relevant topics in the specific ministry focus area
Track 2: Mentored Ministry – Residents have the opportunity to serve alongside Bayou City Fellowship pastors and ministry leaders in one of the ministry-specific areas:
- Pastoral Leadership
- Worship
- Missions
- Audio Visual/Tech
*Within the Mentored Ministry track, residents will be given ministry assignments and responsibilities within their ministry area and exposed to overall church leadership.
Each resident, regardless of track, will also participate in a weekly seminar with other residents, which is focused on understanding and developing leadership skills and various facets of ministry and operations within a church.
